Get involved

Our repair cafe runs once a month and relies on people who are willing to sit down with a needle, thread, or sewing machine and help someone else mend their clothes.

We are always glad to hear from people who want to help out, whether that is for one evening or on a regular basis.

What kind of help is useful

  • People with sewing or mending skills who can sit with someone and show them how to fix a hem, patch a hole, or replace a button or zip
  • People who are happy to help beginners thread a machine or thread a needle
  • People who can help with small jobs on the night, such as setting up, making tea, or greeting people as they arrive
  • People willing to spread the word about the repair cafe to friends, family, or community groups

You do not need to be an expert tailor. If you can sew on a button or fix a simple seam, that is often exactly the kind of help someone needs.

What a first step looks like

The best place to start is to get in touch with us and let us know you are interested. We can talk about what kind of help would suit you and what the repair cafe evening involves.

Details of how to reach us and when the next repair cafe is on will follow on this site.
