Napier Menswear Repairs is part of a wider network of community sites. Being connected this way gives us a couple of things worth knowing about.
Community Discussion is where we talk things through and decide together, in the open, rather than decisions happening in a meeting most people never hear about. If we are thinking about changing how the repair cafe runs, or what we take on as a shop, this is where that conversation can happen where anyone can see it and take part.
Community Self Funding is how a community pays for the things it wants itself, together, rather than waiting around to be funded by someone else. It means if we want to do something, we are not stuck hoping a grant comes through.
Being connected to nearby communities matters because the same problems tend to come up in the next suburb, or the next town along. Someone else has probably already worked out how to run a repair evening, or how to handle bookings, or what to do when a workshop gets too popular. A group that can see what worked somewhere else does not have to start from nothing every time.
